Get Started

Download the Interview VIP desktop app for your operating system. Once installed, launch the app and log in with your Interview VIP account. If you don't have a subscription yet, you can still use the app for free during your trial period.

💡 Tip: If you don't have a subscription, you'll automatically be enrolled in a free trial when you first log in. No credit card required to get started.

Before the Interview

1

Set your language

Open the Settings tab and use the Custom Instructions feature to specify the programming language you'd like your AI answers in. For example, you can write "Answer all coding questions in Python" or "Use TypeScript with strict types". This ensures every response is immediately usable in your interview environment.

2

Select your screen share

Using the button in the left-hand navigation panel, select the screen or window where you'll be writing your interview code. At any point during the interview, press the hotkey (Ctrl+Esc on Mac, Ctrl+1 on Windows) to instantly send the current state of your screen to the AI Copilot.

💡 For best results: Make sure your screen resolution does not exceed 1920×1080, or share only the specific window you're working in. Very high resolutions can make it harder for the AI to read text in screenshots accurately.
3

Familiarize yourself with the hotkeys

The hotkeys are designed to be fast and unobtrusive — they won't interfere with your coding or typing during the interview. You can customize all hotkeys from the Settings tab at any time.

Action Mac Windows
Send current screen to the AI Copilot Ctrl+Esc Ctrl+1
Toggle system audio transcription Cmd+Shift+A Ctrl+Shift+A
Toggle microphone transcription Cmd+Shift+M Ctrl+Shift+M
Cancel any in-flight AI responses Shift+Esc Shift+Esc
Reset chat history Home Home
Scroll up in the overlay PageUp PageUp
Scroll down in the overlay PageDown PageDown
Unminimize / restore window Ctrl+Shift+Esc Ctrl+Shift+U
Toggle overlay transparency Ctrl+G Ctrl+G
Move overlay window Cmd+↑↓←→ Win+↑↓←→

During the Interview

Once your interview starts, use the hotkeys to send your current screen or selected code to the AI Copilot. The AI will analyze what's on screen and provide a structured, accurate solution within seconds — displayed on your private overlay that only you can see.

If you need a more targeted response, highlight specific code or text before triggering the hotkey. The AI will focus on the selected portion rather than the entire screen. You can also add inline comments to your code (e.g., // optimize this to O(n)) to direct the AI toward a specific approach or constraint.

Send full screen

Press Ctrl+Esc (Mac) or Ctrl+1 (Windows) to capture and send your entire selected window to the AI for a complete solution.

Use selected text

Highlight a specific block of code or a problem description first, then trigger the hotkey. The AI hones in on exactly what you've selected for a more precise answer.

Features

Companion Mode

Companion Mode lets you run Interview VIP alongside your coding environment as a persistent, docked AI panel. Instead of using hotkeys to trigger responses, the AI monitors your code editor continuously and surfaces suggestions automatically as you write. Ideal for take-home assignments or extended coding sessions where hands-free assistance is more comfortable.

Undetectability

Interview VIP uses OS-level window exclusion to make the overlay completely invisible to screen recording and sharing tools. When your interviewer views your screen share, they see only your code editor — not the AI assistant running alongside it.

This has been tested and confirmed invisible on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, CoderPad, HackerRank, and all major screen recording tools. No configuration required — stealth mode is active by default.

Audio transcription

Interview VIP can listen to system audio (e.g. the interviewer speaking over a video call) or your microphone and transcribe questions in real time. Toggle system audio with Cmd+Shift+A (Mac) / Ctrl+Shift+A (Windows), and microphone input with Cmd+Shift+M / Ctrl+Shift+M. Transcribed text feeds directly into the AI context so you get answers without typing a single word.

Subscription Management

Plans & billing

Interview VIP offers a monthly subscription and a one-time lifetime plan. Both include full access to all features and all platforms, plus all future updates. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from the account settings inside the app or by visiting interviewvip.ai/pricing.

FAQ

Is Interview VIP really undetectable?

Yes. The overlay window uses OS-level exclusion APIs that prevent it from appearing in any screen capture — whether from built-in recorders, Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, or third-party tools like OBS. Your interviewer sees only what is on your physical display, never the AI assistant.

Which platforms are supported?

Interview VIP works on macOS and Windows (desktop) and is compatible with all major coding interview platforms — LeetCode, HackerRank, CoderPad, CodeSignal, Codility — as well as any video conferencing tool including Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Webex.

What screen resolution works best?

For the most accurate AI readings, keep your screen resolution at or below 1920×1080. If you use a high-DPI display (4K/Retina), consider sharing only the specific application window rather than your entire screen. This gives the AI a sharper, more readable snapshot and results in better-quality answers.
